Filipino Food

We have now reached the point in the trip where people from work are getting me to try weird Filipino food.

Things I've tried so far (both weird and not weird):

Chicken (and pork) adobo: DELICIOUS. I will be making this for the rest of my life.

Pancit: Also delicious. Noodles, veggies, and meat.

Sinigang: A tamarind-based soup with meat and vegetables. Amazing...I want to learn how to make this, too.

Sisig: You don't really want to know. I have food texture issues in general...so this was interesting. I was game and tried it, though! All the girls from work loved it.

Crispy Kangkong (watercress): pretty good! These are fried in oil and then you dip in some kind of mayo sauce.

Ube tarts from Rowena's: absolutely delicious. Ube is a purple yam.

Watch this. Filipinos love their food!

  1. Ube is a weird food. It's a yam but used for sweets, like tarts. I was not a fan of them.

Now, adobo and pancit... fabulous! Love, love, love those two things. Besides the fresh seafood, I miss those the most. Oh, and mangos!
