We have now reached the point in the trip where people from work are getting me to try weird Filipino food.
Things I've tried so far (both weird and not weird):
Chicken (and pork) adobo: DELICIOUS. I will be making this for the rest of my life.
Pancit: Also delicious. Noodles, veggies, and meat.
Sinigang: A tamarind-based soup with meat and vegetables. Amazing...I want to learn how to make this, too.
Sisig: You don't really want to know. I have food texture issues in general...so this was interesting. I was game and tried it, though! All the girls from work loved it.
Crispy Kangkong (watercress): pretty good! These are fried in oil and then you dip in some kind of mayo sauce.
Ube tarts from Rowena's: absolutely delicious. Ube is a purple yam.
Watch this. Filipinos love their food!
Ube is a weird food. It's a yam but used for sweets, like tarts. I was not a fan of them.
ReplyDeleteNow, adobo and pancit... fabulous! Love, love, love those two things. Besides the fresh seafood, I miss those the most. Oh, and mangos!
